The parting of ways between Vladimir Petković and the Algerian national team, which has been the subject of speculation for several weeks, is now approaching its conclusion. According to BeIN Sports Arabic, the 62-year-old coach and the Algerian Football Federation have finalized the termination of his contract following the team’s exit in the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup against Switzerland.

The Swiss-Bosnian manager took charge of the “Desert Foxes” in February 2024. During his tenure, he secured 24 victories, recorded 9 draws, and suffered 6 defeats. Petković led Algeria to the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco and successfully guided the team back to the World Cup after a 12-year absence.
