Xabi Alonso Reflects on Real Madrid Setback Ahead of Chelsea Role
Chelsea’s new head coach, Xabi Alonso, has spoken candidly for the first time about his departure from Real Madrid and his decision to take charge of the London club.
The Spanish coach admitted that his time in Madrid was a significant challenge:
“Fortunately, throughout my career, I have very few scars. There is one, but it is healing. I have done a lot of reflection and self-criticism. Mistakes are lessons, and I believe the future will be better.”
Alonso emphasized that he has fully regained his strength and is ready to embrace the ambitious project at Chelsea:
“Chelsea has tremendous potential for growth. Our discussions with the management revealed that we share the same vision for the team’s development.”
