Todd Boehly and Mark Walter, co-owners of London’s Chelsea, have sold their shares in Clearlake, the company that previously held over 60% ownership of the club. Clearlake, now fully controlled by its founders Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, has taken complete ownership of Chelsea.
The club’s head coach, Javi Alonso, commented on the recent change in ownership.
“I believe this is an important day for the club, as significant changes in the club’s structure are happening with the arrival of a new owner. I want to thank the former owners for what they accomplished. I wasn’t here during their tenure, but I know they played a significant role. Now that Behdad is assuming greater, or nearly full, control, it’s good to have clarity on who is in charge. I have a very good relationship with Behdad. He came to Madrid to explain the club’s project to me and to convince me, and we work well together. As I have mentioned, we have completed the first phase of the project for the team. That’s positive, and now we move forward together.”
“This is precisely why we are here. We are working to reach this position, fully aware of the competition we face, but also of the club’s ambitions and potential, the quality of the players, and our current standing. We know where we want to be. We understand that everything takes time, but the ambitions are clear,” Javi Alonso stated.
