Emers Faé has officially stepped down as head coach of the Ivory Coast national team. The 42-year-old coach chose not to renew his contract, which is set to expire this Friday.

Faé took charge of the Elephants in February 2024, assuming control during the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations hosted at home following the departure of Jean-Louis Gasset. In a stunning achievement, he led the Ivorian side to the tournament title.

Under his leadership, the national team reached the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time in its history, falling 1-2 to Norway in the round of 16. This marked Ivory Coast’s first World Cup appearance in twelve years. At the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Elephants advanced to the quarterfinals before being eliminated by Egypt.

Despite a refreshed young squad and strong results, Faé has decided to pursue a new chapter in his career and seek a different project.
