Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh has been officially nominated for the title of Europe’s Best Female Athlete of 2026 by European Athletics. Should she win, it would mark her second time receiving this honor, having previously earned it in 2024.
Alongside Mahuchikh, nine other prominent athletes from various track and field disciplines have been nominated for the award. Mahuchikh holds several advantages: she is the reigning absolute world champion, secured gold at the World Championships, and triumphed at the European Outdoor Championships. Notably, none of the other nominees have ever been named Europe’s Best Female Athlete before.
The shortlist of three finalists will be announced on October 1, with the winner revealed on October 24, 2026. The decision will be made through voting by fans, national federations, media, and experts, each group contributing 25% to the final tally.
