Kevin Lamour, the third-ranking official within FIFA, has publicly condemned President Gianni Infantino’s controversial plan to sell stakes in the World Cup to private investors.

In a statement to the press, the French executive criticized the initiative as a unilateral project that should not proceed. He emphasized the need for football leadership to ask the right questions and make sound decisions. Lamour accused the organization of misleading its staff due to a lack of transparency, stating that employees deserve better than contempt and intimidation. He added that if standing by his principles costs him his job, he would accept and respect that outcome, but he would sleep peacefully that night.

Earlier, in protest against Infantino’s actions, his advisor Carlos Cordeiro resigned, declaring he could not remain passive while FIFA considered selling shares of the World Cup.

The controversial proposal has also drawn opposition from UEFA and CONCACAF, who have publicly voiced their disapproval of the FIFA president’s plan.
