The Italian football season officially kicks off this evening with the first round of the Coppa Italia.

Fans can look forward to matches featuring Fiorentina against Benevento, Parma facing Catania, and Monza taking on Avellino.

This stage represents the Round of 64 in the Coppa Italia, the trophy that Inter claimed last season by defeating Lazio 2-0 in the final.

All matches in the tournament up to the semifinals are decided in a single game, with the outcome determined after 90 minutes or, if necessary, by a penalty shootout.

The only round played over two legs, including the possibility of extra time, is the semifinal stage.
