Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus has shared his expectations ahead of the second round UEFA Nations League clash against Norway.
“Norway is one of the strongest teams in Europe. Their squad includes well-known players like Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard, who perform at a very high level in England. They will create more goal-scoring opportunities against us than Wales did, and I hope our defense will hold firm. No major changes are needed; we will continue to develop the style of play we’ve already demonstrated. I believe the team will be solid defensively and show greater creativity in attack,” Jesus said.
The Portuguese coach also expressed concerns about the fitness of his team leader, Bruno Fernandes.
“Bruno’s situation is worrying. He played against Wales while carrying an injury sustained earlier at Manchester United, so we’ll see if he will be ready for the match. There are no issues with Nuno Mendes. He finished the last game tired, but if necessary, I can field him in this match as well. We will assess Nuno and the rest of the squad during training,” Jesus added.
The Norway vs Portugal match is scheduled for today, 27 September, with kickoff at 18:45 UTC.
