Norway head coach Ståle Solbakken is eagerly anticipating the showdown between Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of his team’s clash with Portugal.
“This is a duel between two players: one in the prime of his career and the other likely approaching its twilight, although with him, you can never be certain. Regardless, these are two superstars who will probably share the pitch tomorrow, which is fantastic for the fans and for football in general,” the Norwegian manager commented.
Solbakken also offered his insights on the Portuguese side, now under the guidance of new coach Jorge Jesus.
“Portugal have a new coach, and if you look at how he has worked with his previous teams and the style of football they played, you could see in their match against Wales that they operated somewhat differently compared to when Martinez was in charge. They made positional adjustments, and we took that into account during our preparations. Of course, they have very strong players all over the pitch. We expect a balanced and hard-fought game. Since this is our home match, we will try to neutralize the opponent’s key strengths. At the same time, it is important for us to play our own football and stick to the principles we’ve followed over the past few years,” Solbakken added.
The Norway versus Portugal match is scheduled for today, 27 September, with kickoff set for 19:45 UTC.
