On the eve of the second round of the UEFA Nations League clash against Greece, Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp shared his thoughts on their upcoming opponent.
“They have many talented players. This is an excellent generation—perhaps the ‘golden generation’ of Greek football. Analyzing the opponent was fascinating. Until their last match, they struggled to get the desired results. They have skillful and creative players who work hard together as a team. We hold Greece in high regard and understand that achieving a positive result will require significant effort from us,” Klopp commented.
The Bundesliga manager also spoke about the young leaders in his squad, Karim Adeyemi and Florian Wirtz.
“Karim, whom I got to know here, is a wonderful and very pleasant young man. So far, he’s making a great impression at Barcelona. The national team means a lot to him. In the match against the Netherlands, he missed a good chance, although he usually converts such opportunities. Handling moments like that is a serious test in a footballer’s life. We are working on helping him maintain focus and continue performing even after such episodes. He contributes a lot to the national team’s play, and I’m pleased with him.
Florian learned a great deal during his first year at Liverpool. Now, with a new season and a new coach underway, it seems he has started in all matches. Physically, he looks excellent. The team is beginning to find its rhythm again. Attacking players always need a well-coordinated team. Anyone who loves football can see what an outstanding player Wirtz is,” Klopp added.
