La Liga president Javier Tebas has firmly dismissed Real Madrid‘s complaints that critical errors by an inexperienced referee influenced the outcome of their recent match against Atletico Madrid.
Responding to the claims, Tebas told AS: “Real did not lose because of those incidents. The red card, which was certainly deserved, was the one given to Heisen. As for the other incident, it did not warrant a red card. It was clear that he touched the ball first. We have long condemned the conduct of Real Madrid TV, and following yesterday’s incident, it is essential to continue upholding ethical standards. This is an unfair and harsh way to pressure the referee.”
The match was officiated by 41-year-old Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias, whom José Mourinho has described as “lacking any experience at the highest level.”
