Premier League club Liverpool has announced the appointment of Julian Ward as their new sporting director. Ward will fill the position left vacant after the departure of Richard Hughes.

Ward previously held this role in 2022, taking over from Michael Edwards. During his tenure, he oversaw several high-profile signings, including the arrivals of Darwin Núñez, Cody Gakpo, and Alexis Mac Allister.

Despite these achievements, Ward’s initial stint lasted only one year, as he announced his decision to step down midway through the 2022/23 season.

It is worth noting that Hughes left Liverpool to join Al-Hilal.
