Manchester United Sells Old Trafford Turf Souvenirs Amid Financial Losses
Manchester United has released its financial report for the 2025/26 season, revealing another loss. Preliminary figures indicate a deficit of approximately £43–47 million. This marks the seventh consecutive year that the club has operated in the red, with total losses over this period reaching around £444 million.
Despite achieving record revenue exceeding £677 million and returning to operating profit thanks to cost-cutting measures under the leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s high debt servicing expenses continue to erode its profits. Additionally, the club confirmed spending £63.5 million on acquiring land for a future new stadium.
In an effort to generate extra income, Manchester United has started selling souvenirs made from the old pitch at Old Trafford. In the summer of 2026, the stadium’s playing surface was replaced for the first time in 14 years. The removed turf was cut into 7×7 cm cubes, encased in acrylic blocks, and packaged in black cases. Each piece is priced at £125. The club markets these items as unique collectibles, offering fans a way to preserve a piece of the legendary stadium’s history.
