Manuel Neuer: World Cup 2026 Will Be My Final Tournament with Germany
Germany national team goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has confirmed that he is preparing to end his international career. The current World Cup will be the last major tournament for the 40-year-old footballer.
“This will be my last tournament for Germany. I do not plan to play at Euro 2028. But I want to look forward to every game and not think about farewells or a potential last match,” the goalkeeper said at the Germany national team press conference.
“I am absolutely sure that our team is capable of winning the World Cup, otherwise I wouldn’t be here. A second World Cup victory would, of course, be something special for me. If I didn’t see a chance, I wouldn’t be here today,” Neuer noted.
Germany will play their next match on June 20 against the Ivory Coast team.
