Milos Kerkez Credits Iraola for Boosting His Confidence at Liverpool
Liverpool defender Milos Kerkez opened up about working under new head coach Andoni Iraola following the Reds’ 2-0 victory over Como in their final preseason friendly before the start of the Premier League campaign.
Kerkez, who previously played under Iraola at Bournemouth, expressed his appreciation for the attacking freedom he now enjoys under the Spanish manager.
“Everyone is hoping that Iraola can prove himself to be the best version of a coach. The difference is definitely huge. We play very aggressively. We have to run more. That’s good. It’s tough, but if you want to compete at the highest level, you have to do it in the Champions League and the Premier League.
I have more freedom to move around. I really run more, with greater freedom, making more passes into the box. The coach gave me confidence when I was still at Bournemouth. We all have to do what he tells us. Play aggressively, with determination, so we need to keep going in the same spirit,” Kerkez said.
It is worth noting that the Reds will kick off their Premier League season on Sunday, August 23, with an away match against Newcastle.
