Sergio Busquets Begins Coaching Role with Barcelona B Team
Former Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has returned to the club to embark on his coaching career with the reserve team competing in Spain’s fourth division.
The 38-year-old will join the coaching staff under Juliano Belletti this season while simultaneously working towards obtaining his coaching licenses.
Back in 2018, Barcelona Athletic played in the second division, but since then the team has dropped two levels to the Segunda Federación.
The objective for Belletti and Busquets is to guide the team back to the third division, all while nurturing young talents for the first team.
It is worth recalling that Busquets joined Barcelona as a teenager in 2005. Over his career, he made 722 appearances for the Catalan club—only Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernandez have played more—and secured nine La Liga titles, three UEFA Champions League trophies, along with numerous other honors.
Busquets also earned 143 caps for the Spain national team and was a key member of the squads that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2012 UEFA European Championship.
He concluded his playing career at Inter Miami, where he featured in 116 matches and helped the Florida-based club win the Leagues Cup in 2023 and the MLS Cup in 2025.
