Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has filed a defamation lawsuit against Crystal Palace in the High Court. The case stems from a banner displayed by Palace supporters depicting the Greek businessman and well-known Putin supporter holding a gun to the head of midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

The image was accompanied by a sarcastic message denying Marinakis’s involvement in blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking, and corruption. Marinakis strongly denies all such allegations.

Previously, the English Football Association had already charged Crystal Palace over inappropriate fan behavior related to this incident. The tension between the two clubs dates back to last season when Nottingham Forest took Crystal Palace’s spot in the Europa League following Palace’s breach of UEFA regulations.
