AC Milan have officially confirmed the appointment of Ruben Amorim as the club’s new head coach. The Portuguese manager has signed a two-year contract with an option to extend the agreement for an additional season.
Amorim began his coaching career in 2018, working with Casa Pia and Braga before taking charge of Sporting CP. During his time in Lisbon, he guided the club to two Portuguese league titles and established himself as one of Europe’s most promising young managers.
The 41-year-old later spent more than a year in charge of Manchester United, but his time at Old Trafford ended without major success. He left the club in January 2026 and had remained without a managerial position until accepting the Milan role.
Speaking after his appointment, Amorim highlighted the importance of joining one of football’s most historic clubs.
“There are ambitions that stay with you throughout your entire career, and becoming Milan’s coach has always been one of them. I know exactly what this club represents: history, prestige, and an incredible global fanbase,” Amorim said.
“This is a challenge I accept with pride and enthusiasm, fully aware of what these colors mean. I cannot wait to begin working and experience every day the passion that drives Milan.”
Amorim now begins a new chapter at San Siro, where he will be tasked with returning the Rossoneri to the top level of Italian and European football.
