Paraguay’s head coach Gustavo Alfaro spoke after his team’s 1-0 victory over Turkey in the second group stage match of the World Cup. Alfaro stated, “We knew how to win. It wasn’t about the tactical setup, but the spirit of the players.”
The Paraguayan coach also reflected on the significance of the win: “We had to give everything, and the players gave me one of the most beautiful evenings of my coaching career.”
Addressing the doubters, Alfaro responded: “If someone tells you, ‘Paraguay is dead,’ be skeptical. Don’t believe it right away. The worst defeat is losing faith in yourself. My players were ready today, and I knew they would take the field as if it were a final.”
