Patrick Schick Retires from Czech Republic Duty Following World Cup Exit
Following the heavy 0-3 defeat to Mexico on Thursday morning and the subsequent exit from the World Cup, Patrick Schick announced his retirement from international football at just 30 years old.
The Bayer Leverkusen striker, who ranks third on the all-time top scorers list for the national team, emphasized that this decision was not made impulsively but after considerable reflection. In a farewell Instagram post, Schick delivered a sharp critique of the Czech football authorities.
“I leave with pride for what I have achieved with the national team. However, I also feel that Czech football should offer much more than it has shown in recent years. We need to face the truth and change many things that have long ceased to work,” the forward stated.
