The 2026-27 English Premier League season has yet to kick off, but it has already set a new record. Nine clubs will begin the campaign with a new permanent manager, marking the highest number of managerial changes at the start of a top-flight season in Premier League history.
From Liverpool and Manchester City to Newcastle United and Chelsea, nearly half of the league has undergone leadership changes. The previous record was eight clubs entering a season with new managers, which occurred in 2016-17. That summer saw Pep Guardiola take charge at Manchester City, while Antonio Conte was appointed at Chelsea, leading the Blues to a league title in his debut season.
Before that, seven clubs replaced their managers ahead of the 1995-96 season, and six clubs did so before the 2012-13 campaign.
It is worth noting that the new Premier League season is scheduled to begin in the latter half of August.
