Crvena Zvezda’s Champions League qualifying campaign came to an end after a 0-2 home defeat against Hapoel Be’er-Sheva in the third qualifying round second leg. The Serbian side was unable to overturn the deficit as the Israeli club secured a solid away victory.
In the first half, Crvena Zvezda dominated possession and created several dangerous chances, but their finishing let them down. The visitors capitalized on this wastefulness in the second half: Zlatanovic broke the deadlock in the 61st minute, and Ist doubled Hapoel’s lead in the 79th minute. Despite late efforts from the hosts, including a shot from Cham that struck the crossbar, Crvena Zvezda could not find a way back. The match ended on a sour note for the home team as Abu Fani was sent off in the 93rd minute.
