Robert Lewandowski Agrees Two-Year Deal with Chicago Fire After Barcelona
Robert Lewandowski has agreed to a two-year contract with Chicago Fire, joining the club on a free transfer after concluding his tenure with Barcelona. The 37-year-old Polish striker was also courted by AC Milan and several Saudi Arabian clubs but ultimately chose to continue his career in the United States.
“We are aiming to bring in world-class players. We believe Lewandowski will be an outstanding signing not only for Chicago Fire but for the entire league, as having a player of his caliber is a huge boost. In terms of skill level, we place him alongside Messi, and that will be fantastic for the city of Chicago,” said Gregg Berhalter, head coach of the American side.
The club also hopes that Lewandowski’s arrival will encourage his former Bayern Munich teammate Leon Goretzka to make the move to Chicago. The striker leaves Europe as a legend, having secured three league titles in four years with the Catalan giants.
