Brazil kicked off their new preparation cycle for the 2030 World Cup with a draw. In a friendly match held in Townsville, Carlo Ancelotti’s side conceded in the second half to Australia, but a late header from substitute Ryan in stoppage time secured a 1-1 draw.
Ancelotti‘s team once again revealed the issues that had plagued them during the 2026 World Cup, which ended prematurely for the five-time champions.
The Brazilians struggled to pose a serious threat to the hosts’ goal for much of the match. Their attacking trio, led by Vinicius, Endrick, and Raphinha, lacked the sharpness needed to break through.
Midway through the second half, Australia took the lead. Nestor Irankunda delivered a free kick that found the top corner of the Brazilian net.
After conceding, Seleção increased their tempo and intensified their efforts. However, it was only in the dying moments that they managed to equalize. In stoppage time, substitute Ryan headed home from a corner to level the score at 1-1.
