Brian King, the former senior scout at Tottenham, has publicly questioned Roberto De Zerbi‘s decision to let Jed Spence leave for Inter Milan. The England international was sold to the Italian club for £25 million following the 2026 World Cup.
“I still can’t understand why they got rid of Spence. An England international. £25 million. Tottenham could have sold other players instead of him,” King remarked. “Spence performed well at the World Cup. He became a regular starter, so I don’t see why they would sell him for that price.”
Currently, midfielder Archie Gray has been deployed as a right-back, including when he replaced the injured Pedro Porro in the 19th minute of Saturday’s home defeat against Aston Villa.
However, Roberto De Zerbi insists he is satisfied with the situation: “We have Archie Gray, who prefers to play in midfield but also performs excellently as a right-back. I think we are in a good place.”
