Serhiy Rebrov Poised to Lead Hungary Against Ukraine Amid Coaching Uncertainty
Hungary continues its UEFA Nations League campaign with a crucial match against Northern Ireland. For Marco Rossi, whose contract runs until 2030, this game could prove decisive, as a defeat might put his position as head coach in jeopardy.
Meanwhile, according to Magyar Nemzet, Serhiy Rebrov has effectively expressed his readiness to take over the role. Rebrov is well known in Hungary, having managed Ferencváros successfully from 2018 to 2021, securing domestic trophies and guiding the club to the UEFA Champions League group stage. Since April 2026, he has been out of work following his dismissal from the national team.
Sources close to the Hungarian Football Federation reveal that after negotiations in May, the 52-year-old coach is considered the leading candidate to replace Rossi. The Ukrainian manager has openly stated his desire to work with the Hungarian national team, emphasizing his affection for the country and its people. Should Rossi depart, Rebrov could theoretically take charge of the team as early as the upcoming matches, including the fixture against Ukraine.
