Barcelona continues to pursue the coveted Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, but the “Colchoneros” remain confident that the Argentine forward will not be moving to Camp Nou.
Alvarez is set to rejoin Atletico’s squad on Monday to begin preseason training following his World Cup break. Meanwhile, Barcelona is preparing one final attempt to secure his signature. It is expected that Alvarez will also submit a transfer request during a private meeting with coach Diego Simeone and Atletico’s management.
When asked about Alvarez during a weekend press conference, Simeone responded calmly and confidently.
“The situation is very clear. The club has made a decision, which Atletico’s CEO Miguel Angel Marin has clearly explained.
We are very satisfied with Julian. From a sporting perspective, we will help him continue to grow and improve so he can give us what he has provided over the past two years at the club, which has been an incredible amount,” Simeone stated.
Reports indicate that Barcelona has already identified an alternative to Alvarez and is prepared to finalize a deal if Atletico once again rejects their offer.
