Trabzonspor Appoints Thomas Reis as New Head Coach, Replaces Fatih Tekke
Trabzonspor has officially announced the appointment of their new head coach, 52-year-old German specialist Thomas Reis. He has signed a contract for two seasons.
Reis takes over from Fatih Tekke, who left the club earlier this month following a run of poor results. The German coach previously worked in Turkey with Samsunspor and most recently managed Bulgarian side Ludogorets. Trabzonspor paid compensation to the Bulgarian club to terminate Reis’s contract early.
The 52-year-old coach will inherit a strong squad, bolstered over the summer by signings such as Mohamed Salah and Fabinho, alongside Ruslan Malinovskyi. Reis has already held his first press conference, where he stated his familiarity with the nuances of Turkish football and expressed readiness to begin work immediately.
Thomas Reis is set to make his debut as head coach of the “claret-blues” this coming Saturday when Trabzonspor face Galatasaray in a Turkish Süper Lig fixture.
