The quarterfinal stage of the 2026 Copa Libertadores has concluded. In the final match, Brazilian side Flamengo drew 1-1 with Ecuador’s Independiente del Valle at the Maracanã Stadium, advancing to the semifinals with a 3-1 aggregate score.
The decisive goal came from Georgian de Arrascaeta in the 83rd minute. With this result, the lineup of semifinalists is now complete. Alongside Flamengo, the other teams are Argentina’s Estudiantes and Brazilian clubs Fluminense and Palmeiras. The semifinals will see Estudiantes face Flamengo, while Fluminense will take on Palmeiras. The first legs are scheduled for October 13–14, with the return matches set for October 20–21. The tournament final will be held on November 28 at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo.
Flamengo enters the semifinals as the defending champions of the Copa Libertadores. The presence of three Brazilian clubs at this stage once again underscores the country’s dominance in South American club football. Brazilian teams have won nine of the last tournaments, including three titles for Flamengo, two for Palmeiras, and one for Fluminense.
