Alexander Zubkov Scores First Goal for AEK in Greek Cup Win
Ukrainian midfielder Oleksandr Zubkov, who has yet to fully settle at his new club AEK Athens, may have turned a corner by scoring his first goal for the team.
However, this milestone came in a relatively low-stakes setting. The goal occurred during the second round of the Greek Cup against the little-known club Panserraikos, a match in which AEK dominated at will. By the time Zubkov found the net, the score was already 6-0.
Still eager to get on the scoresheet, Zubkov received the ball inside the opponent’s penalty area in the 72nd minute and curled a precise shot into the far corner.
In addition to his goal, Zubkov also contributed an assist. The final scoreline of this one-sided encounter was 8-1 in favor of AEK Athens.
