Turkish Journalist Calls for Montella’s Resignation, Urges Arda Turan Appointment
Turkish journalist Muhammed Duman has called for the resignation of Turkey national team head coach Vincenzo Montella following a heavy 4-1 defeat to Italy in the UEFA Nations League. Duman argues that such a result leaves the Italian manager unfit to continue leading the national side.
Duman highlighted that the loss in Bursa further exposed the ongoing crisis within the “Janissaries” squad. He criticized the team’s lack of willpower and inability to compete effectively against top-level opponents. As a replacement for Montella, the journalist suggested Arda Turan, the current manager of Shakhtar Donetsk. Duman believes the former Turkish international midfielder could revitalize the team and restore its fighting spirit.
The match against Italy took place on September 28. Following the game, fans in the stands voiced demands for Montella’s dismissal, but the coach himself declared he has no intention of stepping down.
