UEFA has welcomed FIFA’s decision to abandon the plan to sell a portion of the World Cup’s commercial rights to private investors.

The proposal was unanimously rejected by European associations and numerous other football federations, who emphasized that football should not be subject to such transactions.

At the same time, UEFA criticized FIFA President Gianni Infantino, accusing the organization’s leadership of lacking transparency and losing trust. The union also called for a thorough review of the situation to prevent similar initiatives in the future.

Furthermore, UEFA suggested allocating part of FIFA’s reserves, which exceed $5 billion, towards football development through the FIFA Forward program, rather than seeking funds by selling commercial rights.
