Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk reflected on her doubles victory against Serena and Venus Williams at the Cincinnati tournament. Partnering with Peyton Stearns, Marta delivered one of Monday’s most thrilling matches, winning 6-2, 1-6, 10-8.
“Honestly, while I was on the court, I thought, ‘Wow, what an experience to be here.’ As a child, I watched them play together, so it was a huge honor for me to share the court with them. At times today, the crowd was so loud that I couldn’t even hear myself think, but I guess that’s what tennis is all about. Thank you so much to everyone for the energy—it was incredible. Thank you!”
In the next round, Marta and Peyton will face the pair of Guo Hanyu and Kristina Mladenovic from China and France, seeded third.
