The Charlotte Hornets have traded LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Naz Reid, a 2033 first-round draft pick, the rights to swap first-round picks in 2028, 2029, and 2030, as well as three second-round picks in 2029, 2032, and 2033, according to insider Shams Charania.
The Timberwolves have combined Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball, forming one of the NBA’s most promising backcourts. Last season, the 24-year-old Ball averaged 20.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game.
Ball was reluctant to leave the Hornets, where he had played since being selected third overall in the 2020 draft, but the club ultimately decided not to pass up Minnesota’s lucrative offer.
