Cleveland appoints new general manager following predecessor's move to LeBron's team

Cleveland Cavaliers have appointed Brandon Weems as their new general manager under president Koby Altman.
Weems joined the Ohio-based franchise in 2015 as a college scout. During a front office reorganization in 2017, he was promoted to director of scouting. In 2022, he advanced again to the role of assistant general manager. Over the past four years, Weems has been responsible for contract negotiations, managing the salary cap, and overseeing significant trades.
The Cavaliers have filled the general manager vacancy left by Mike Gansey, who departed for the Philadelphia 76ers. Gansey’s move coincided with the offseason transfer of LeBron James to Philadelphia.
