Luis Diaz: Bayern Yet to Reach Last Season’s Performance Level
Luis Diaz, Bayern Munich’s midfielder, believes the team will need some time to reach their optimal form. However, the Colombian remains confident in the squad’s quality and expects the team to peak at the right moment.
Bayern Munich have maintained an unbeaten record across all competitions this season, though not all matches have been straightforward. The Bavarians edged past Bundesliga newcomers Elversberg with a narrow 2-1 victory and then played out a goalless draw against Schalke in the second league round.
“I think we are not yet the same Bayern as we were last season. We haven’t reached that level yet, and that’s normal. We’ve had an enormous workload. Over the past few months, we played an incredible number of crucial matches, including Champions League playoffs and cup fixtures. Many of us also participated in the World Cup afterward, with relatively little time to rest,” Diaz explained.
Despite the need to build form, Diaz remains optimistic about his teammates. “The most important thing is to understand that we have an excellent team and outstanding players. We are capable of playing the way we did before. To achieve this, we need to work hard. I am confident we will get there. We have everything necessary to have an even more successful season than the last and to accomplish all our goals,” the Colombian stated.
