Six-time NBA All-Star demands immediate dismissal from the team

Forward DeMar DeRozan is looking to expedite his departure from the Sacramento Kings through either a buyout or a trade.
DeRozan’s contract for the 2026/27 season is valued at $25 million, but only $10 million of that amount is guaranteed. The six-time NBA All-Star expects Sacramento to waive him without guaranteeing the full salary and to spread out the remaining payments over several years. This arrangement would allow him to enter the free-agent market in search of a new team. A trade involving the 36-year-old player is considered unlikely.
Last season, DeRozan appeared in 77 games, averaging 18.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists over 31.2 minutes per game.
