Trajan Langdon, President of Basketball Operations for the Detroit Pistons, revealed that he has not communicated with Jalen Duren throughout the entire offseason. The center missed the team’s media day on Monday amid ongoing disagreements over a new contract.
“I haven’t spoken to him all summer, so I don’t know how things stand. But I’m not holding any grudge against him for that. I’ll be very happy when he returns.
He has been a crucial part of our success, and I believe he will continue to be an important figure for the team moving forward. However, I can’t control what he or his representatives decide.
For me, it’s essential to focus on what we can control. When he comes back, we will welcome him, make it clear how significant his role is, and create an environment where he can be the best version of himself and contribute maximally to the team,” Langdon stated.
The Detroit Pistons selected the big man with the 13th overall pick in the 2022 draft. Since then, Jalen Duren has appeared in 276 games for the Pistons, averaging 13.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in 27 minutes per game. Previously, he declined a five-year, $200 million contract offer.
