The Lewis family has joined forces with the Chekets and Eccles families to submit a bid for the London football club as part of the NBA’s planned European project.
This group brings extensive experience in professional sports. David Chekets has held executive roles within the NBA, while the Eccles family has been involved in major sports venues and projects linked to the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
According to reports, former Tottenham football director Daniel Levy is part of a separate consortium alongside Liberty Global and MSP Sports Capital, which is also bidding to purchase the club. Earlier, American tech billionaire Nikesh Arora expressed interest in the project.
London is considered one of the most valuable cities for the proposed NBA-backed European league. The new franchise’s estimated value is around $1 billion. Other cities in consideration include Berlin, Manchester, Milan, Munich, Paris, and Rome.
The NBA and FIBA have received proposals from football club owners, private investment firms, and other major capital groups. The initial franchise deals are expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
