Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic might reconsider his future if the team fails to deliver a strong performance next season, according to ESPN insider Dave McMenamin.
While representing the national team, Jokic gave an interview in his native language and hinted at signing a new contract with Denver next summer. However, the fact remains that he did not sign a deal with the club this summer. Therefore, the upcoming season is crucial for Denver to prove, as an organization, that with the world’s best player on their roster, they still have a chance to compete for the championship.
McMenamin added that if the season goes poorly or the team does not look like one of the strongest in the Western Conference, Jokic could earn a lucrative contract elsewhere. In that case, he would have to reconsider the reality that Denver might not return to the level they reached three years ago when they won the championship.
