The Los Angeles Lakers have traded their unprotected first-round draft picks for 2023 and 2031, along with the rights to swap picks in 2028 and 2030, to the Utah Jazz in exchange for center Walker Kessler.
Kessler is set to sign a new lucrative four-year deal with the Lakers worth $130 million.
Despite missing nearly the entire 2025/26 season due to injury, Kessler averaged 14.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.8 blocks across just five games. Nevertheless, the Lakers have decided to invest in him as their leading center for the coming years, utilizing their available cap space following LeBron James’ decision not to re-sign.
