Ukraine national basketball team center Maksym Klychko explained in an interview with UA-Futbol why he decided to join the East Carolina University student team (NCAA) in the United States.
“The decision wasn’t easy for us. We considered many options after this season. I also played for Monaco’s first team. Serhiy Hladiy, who is currently with us on the national team coaching staff, gave me the opportunity to play and prove myself when they had player shortages and injuries. That was a very valuable experience for me.
For young players, in terms of money, opportunities, and all aspects of basketball development, the US is definitely better. We will see how this season goes and what the future holds. This is a big step for us, and I’m confident it will be a positive one,” Klychko said.
