Monaco is pushing to have the hearing with the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) moved to an earlier date in order to overturn the ban preventing their participation in the country’s professional leagues next season.
The reigning French champions have lodged an appeal with the CNOSF after the French Basketball Federation declined to approve their involvement. Although the hearing is currently scheduled for August 25, the club considers this timing too late.
“I have requested to advance the hearing date because August 25 is too late,” Monaco‘s lawyer, Xavier Lescerf-Galle, told AFP.
Representatives from Monaco, the French Basketball Federation, the National League, and a legal expert from the CNOSF are expected to participate in the hearing.
Monaco has reached an agreement for acquisition by a group of investors led by former NBA All-Star Jamal Mashburn, assuring the club’s financial stability. Reports also suggest that Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho may become a shareholder in Monaco.
