The Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly considering a relocation to Kansas City, according to journalist Bill Simmons.
The Blazers and the Portland city authorities remain far apart in negotiations over a new lease agreement for their home arena, the Moda Center. The current deal expires in 2030, and the team’s new owner, Tom Dundon, is planning to move the franchise to another city after that. The club has already labeled the overall terms as unacceptable. Representatives from the organization have so far refused to engage in talks or attend meetings with Portland city officials.
Business stagnation, high taxes, and political instability in Portland are complicating investment opportunities in the city. These issues are the main concerns that Dundon sees in the city where his new team is based.
