Russell Westbrook, the legendary point guard, has announced his retirement from professional basketball at the age of 37. The Californian bid farewell to the sport by sharing a video on social media narrated by actor Michael B. Jordan.
Over an 18-season NBA career, Westbrook played for seven franchises. He spent the majority of his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder, leading them to the NBA Finals in 2012. Later, he suited up for Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, and Sacramento Kings.
Westbrook retires as an Olympic champion, the 2016-17 season MVP, and the NBA’s all-time leader in triple-doubles. He amassed 209 triple-doubles throughout his career and broke Oscar Robertson’s record by recording 42 triple-doubles in a single regular season.
