Yaroslavа Maguchikh Advances Calmly to European Championships High Jump Final
Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the Ukrainian high jumper and Olympic champion, advanced calmly to the final of the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, where she will defend her title.
Mahuchikh cleared the qualifying height of 1.91 meters on her first attempt.
“It was very hot – 30 degrees, the hottest day so far. We decided to start at 1.88 meters and then go straight to 1.91 meters. I cleared it and I’m very happy. Now I will rest and prepare for the final.
There are no distracting thoughts in my head – I came here to jump and enjoy it. Of course, I want to defend my title and win my third European Championship gold.
Especially since I saw the medals on the screens: the gold medal is very beautiful, so I want to stand on the top step of the podium,” Mahuchikh said.
It should be noted that the women’s high jump final at the European Championships will take place on Saturday, August 15.
