Yaroslava Mahuchikh Wins in Zagreb, Clears 1.97m but Misses 2.01m Attempt
Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh secured a confident victory at the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold Series event held in Zagreb, Croatia. The Olympic champion and world record holder (2.10m) showed solid form by clearing 1.97 meters.
This win extends her winning streak in the 2026 season. Mahuchikh cleared 1.90m and 1.95m on her first attempts before conquering 1.97m on her third try. As the event winner, she attempted 2.01m but was unable to clear the bar in three attempts.
Mahuchikh’s closest challengers were Angelina Topic of Serbia and Eleanor Patterson from Australia, who both shared second place with a clearance of 1.95m. Another Ukrainian competitor, Iryna Herashchenko, finished ninth with a modest 1.85m, below her usual standards.
