Alberto Gilardino is close to taking over as head coach of Parma. He is set to replace Carlos Cuesta, who left the Serie A club by mutual consent on Sunday.

Before Gilardino can officially sign with Parma, he must first terminate his contract with Pisa. Both parties are currently working out the final details of the agreement.

Gilardino emerged as the preferred candidate over Igor Tudor in the competition for the Serie A managerial position.

Negotiations are now focused on the length of Gilardino’s contract, with discussions considering either a deal that includes an option to extend for an additional season or a contract running through 2028.
