The rumors have been confirmed: the Algeria national football team is officially without a head coach. The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has issued an official statement announcing the mutual termination of the contract with Vladimir Petkovich.

“FAF announces that the contractual relationship with the national team coach Vladimir Petkovich and his staff has officially ended by mutual agreement. We express our deep gratitude for their professionalism and the 29 months of dedicated service,” the statement reads.

The decision to part ways was driven by disappointing performances at the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The head coach position is now vacant, with Eric Chelle among the candidates being considered for the role.
