Artem Dovbik Embraces New Chapter with Bologna Loan from Roma
Artem Dovbyk, the new signing at Bologna, recently spoke to the Italian press about his move within Serie A. The Ukrainian forward has joined Bologna on a one-year loan from Roma.
“Physically, I am in good shape, and a new chapter in my career is beginning. At Bologna, I have felt welcomed by a strong team, like a real family. Italy has yet to see me at my best, but I hope and believe I will soon be able to show that here.
Right now, I feel that I can enjoy football again. When people believe in you, everything changes. Here, I am rediscovering those emotions and I feel important for Bologna. I want to enjoy this and repay the club and my new teammates for their faith in me.
Marco Di Vaio called me four years ago when I was playing for Dnipro. He wanted me to join Bologna, and we spoke two or three times to discuss it. However, spending so much money on an unknown striker who had only played in Ukraine was too risky for the Rossoblù at that time, so nothing came of it. Girona took that risk, and it worked out.
This summer, I got back in touch with Di Vaio and Tedeschi and simply told them, ‘If you want me, if you believe in me, I will come.’ I have played in Europe for two years and spent five or six seasons at a high level — for me, this was a great option,” Dovbyk told Repubblica.
